About Melbourne’s Sake Bar & Restaurant: Akatombo City

Keiko Kageyama
(Chef and founder of Akatombo City restaurant)

Keiko was born the second daughter of trumpeter father, and Japanese chef mother, in Osaka Japan. Her family has been running a Japanese Tea House for over 50 years, and a Kaiseki (degustation) restaurant in Osaka for over 20 years. From a young age Keiko has been working with quality Japanese food, having been trained by her mother.

Akatombo City has been designed by Keiko to offer a warm and cheerful dining environment, where both children and adults alike can enjoy a relaxing meal. Through special attention to décor and interior design, Keiko has created a warm mood for Akatombo City and a comfortable homely dining experience. Canvases adorning the walls, and soft cushions, help to create a unique and relaxing environment.

The menu consists of a range of Tapas for diners wanting an authentic Japanese dining experience. There is also a range of cup Sake available to accompany many of the tapas, some of which are only available at Akatombo City.
